Kuwait, Sep 10: KVWA celebrated the feast of Nativity of our Blessed Virgin Mary  on 8th September 2006. Thanks giving mass was offered by the Members of KVWA in church of  “St. Therese of the Child Jesus” Salmiya, followed by Nativity Feast celebration at the Indian Community School, Salmiya.

Montifest program started at 12:30. The program was compered by Pramod D’Souza and Jason D’Souza.  The function started with a prayer by Sunil Rodrigus.  The crowd sang the hymn “Sakkad Sagantha Melyan” followed by “Mareyak Hogolsiyan” as statue of Mother Mary was brought in short procession by the Committee members Mohan, Ozwald, Canute & Lloyd around the hall. The children lead the procession followed by the Angels. The children offered colourful flowers to our Mother reminding all present of the tradition followed back home.

President Nancy Menezes welcomed the invitees and thanked Fr. Melvyn D’Cunha for sparing his valuable time inspite of his busy schedule on a Friday.  Fr. Melvyn in his beautiful message to KVWA members and their families, reminded all present of the Mangalorean tradition of family members coming together on this feast day, sharing a meal together and forgetting all differences. He congratulated KVWA committee members for creating this opportunity in this foreign land and keeping the tradition alive. Fr. Melvyn was honoured with a memento by KVWA on completion of his 10 glorious years of his pastoral service. On behalf of  KVWA President thanked Fr. Melvyn for his selfless service and guidance to the catholic community of Kuwait.

The eminent business personality and KVWA Patron John Fernandes was honoured on this occasion for his continuous support for KVWA. President thanked him for sponsoring for the lunch.  Also she thanked Jason for Compering the program, Sujay Martis for the DJ and  Pramod D’Souza for tastefully decorating Mother Mary’s Grotto along with the help of Committee Members. 



There was a surprise for the little children who celebrated their birthday on 8th Sept. They were called on to the stage to cut the birthday cake and the crowd sang happy birthday song. Housie game was conducted by KVWA Vice President Donald Mendonca.  KVWA members and children showed their talents by singing beautiful songs. The crowd was entertained by Royal Rodrigus with his  Mimikri and jokes.





Grace before meal was recited by by Royal Rodrigus. Sumptuous buffet was served by Vinod Lewis, Brahmavar and topped it up by the traditional Vorn, which was very much appreciated by the crowd. 

The program was managed by David Lewis and Carol Martis and the ended up with Lavdate. Year 2005-2006 has been an eventful year for KVWA. We thank Almighty God for His grace and blessings.
