Karnataka Poll Result a Setback: Rahul Gandhi

AMETHI/NEW DELHI, Jun 2: Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi on Monday acknowledged that the party's poll debacle in Karnataka was a "setback" even as efforts are on to firm up a committee that would suggest ways to revitalise the party.

"Definitely, the defeat in Karnataka is a setback for the party," Gandhi told reporters at Fursatganj airport before winding up his day-long visit to Amethi.

He did not elaborate but his comments came as the party was in the process of deciding on a committee of leaders that will suggest ways and means to revitalise it.

The committee will present its report to party president Sonia Gandhi within 15 days of its formation.

The Congress Working Committee held a brain-storming session on Saturday to review the party's electoral performance in Karnataka, where BJP formed the government.

Congress spokesman Abhishek Manu Singhvi, meanwhile, refused to give credit to BJP for the electoral result, saying it had not emerged victorious but only the leading party.

"It's not a majority in Karnataka for BJP. They barely got through by getting 10 to 15 seats more than others," Singhvi told reporters in Delhi.

Mr. Rahul Gandhi is always right. Because, all the time he is surrounded by ‘YES MEN’, and these ‘YES MEN’, keep on hooting, ‘YES SIR’, a chorus to whatever he says. Yes Rahul was also right, when he declared, during one of his election campaign ‘Division of sub-continent, is an achievement of my family’. Rahul was also right, when he said ‘A minority place of worship would not have been demolished, had my family in rule’, overlooking PVN a trusted General of Congress.

The absence of Political maturity or may be over maturity, among Congressmen and its supporters, in understanding, ‘Why Congress is not being able to project, CLASS instead of CASTE in Indian politics’ is the question of the hour and if addressed by its top leaders, can help to capture her lost glory, not eye-washing sentimental words, ‘Not to worry, Congress is still alive’’. No doubt, Congress has history, tradition, strength, that other political parties are missing. But at the same time it is also true that, Congress is the only party whose BRAND NAME is badly used by opportunist, corrupt leaders with in Congress, to meet their selfish needs.

Why Congress is not bold enough to en cash its inherited strength? The answer is simple, Congress do not have leader now, at fore front, with broader, perspicacious vision. Congress leaders failed to understand the so called ‘Long term strategy’, instead sacrificed party ethos for short term benefits, may be, being a folly to caste politics, money power, muscle power. I do not think, for a party like Congress, if its top leadership has ‘WILL’, it’s impossible to achieve social transformation. A party which claims affiliation to Mahatma and sole proprietorship of Mahatma’s GANDHI SHIP, more than Mahatma’s own offspring, has not even a single leader courageous enough to denounce AND BAN Alcohol in total whenever they had power to rule the state. For writer’s kind information, In view of up-coming LS election, there are talks in the air to pull-in Priyanka, to project as future PM, and send Rahul to back seat, as Rahul is a ‘Race defeated horse’ to some Congressians at Delhi.

No other face, among Congressians visible to these DECISION MAKERS AT DELHI, who can lead Congress to Victory ?. What is wrong if Congress project decent MMS once again as future PM?. At least this gentle move can attract many more votes. This is where Congress has become victim of dynastical hierarchy and bleeding badly.

Should Congress improve thier tally of seats in Karnataka, they have to do away with ageing leaders like Poojary. Karnakata requires young blood to look after the people. Tickets were issued to contestants based on influence they had on these Ageing leaders. It is not too late to get Congress back in Karnataka in next year's National Elections. Congress must choose a Chief Ministerial candidate for the future.

Mr. Sunil G's  assessment on congress debacle in Karntaka is correct. Does it require a committee consisting persons who were responsible for the debacle to send another report and explain same.

BJP won the state election not because by it's own "DISTINCTION" instead the Credit should go to the Congress, particularly the Tri-Moorthis-Oscar,Moily and Poojary and all the BJP MLA's should ever grateful to them. Had the Congress High Command sent down A.K Antony to distribute the Tickets, the story would have been different. The Preference would have been given to the right person instead of "CHAMCHAAS AND BLACKMAILERS" and Congress would have bagged atleast 135-150 seats

Mr. Rahul Gandhi is right. It is a set back for the party in Karnataka. Congress should take corrective measures and make the party strong. However, on thing is very clear. Eventhough Congress got less seats than BJP, it got more votes than BJP.

Congress got 35% of the total vote and BJP got 34%. Therefore, Congress should not lose heart. One interesting news : In the neighbouring Andhra Pradesh byelections were held (just few days back) for 4 LS seats and 18 Assembly seats. The regional TRS was holding all the seats earlier. But Congress managed to get 1 LS seat and 6 assembly seats. The rest went to TDP and TRS. BJP could not get a single seat. That shows BJP is not going to win other states in South. In Tamilnadu BJP is not at all strong and in Kerala they are nowhere. Congress is still strong in all the four southern states.

We need not have worry. Congress will become stronger and win the next general elections for the LS in Mar-Apr 2009. All the best for Congres Party. Jai Hind.

The committee is not at all necessary to present its report to party president Sonia Gandhi within 15 days. Need only action, ie:SEND HOME REMAINING ALL USELESS BUDDAAS AND CHAMCHAS-  If the Congress High Command do this, in the next general election Party will win with Landslide Majority. How the Intelligent voters of Karnataka sent back home the great and ex-CM Dharam Singh, Congress High Command should take the lesson from the Kannadiga voters. Congress party bite the dust in the just concluded state election not beacuse BJP and its candidates are "Genius" but the Congress Partys "CONDUCTORS" (ticket distributors) distributed the tickets to wrong persons.
