Karkala: Humans without humanity indulge in mass massacre of monkeys

Daijiworld Media Network - Karkala (SP)

Karkala, Oct 27: In a development which is sure to melt the hearts of kind people, over 20 monkeys were found to have been killed by poisoning them. The incident happened near Someshwar in Hebri taluk.

It looks like the act of some people who faced problems on account of these monkeys. The monkeys were poisoned elsewhere, before being bundled in four gunny bags and dropping the gunny bags in the second road bend on Agumbe Ghat road.

Tourists who saw the monkeys, some of which were still struggling for life, provided water to them. But within minutes, they breathed their last.

In all likelihood, owners of plantations whose fruits or other products would have been eaten up or damaged by the monkeys would have been involved with this heinous act. Similar acts were reported from some other areas in the recent past.

It's easy to blame ,but we should hear both sides of the story.Yes it is really sad that the monkeys have been killed, this looks like a act of desperation, there are instances about wildlife ,like monkeys ,wild boars ,elephants, destroying agricultural crops which has been tended by the farmers ,also it's their livelihood..
The forest department and the farmers could work together and find a solution to this. All the wild habitats are reduced because of human encroachment.so the animals have lesser land to find food. Many of these factors result in this mayhem.

Many here are putting forward Darwin's Theory which is taught in most of the schools as reality, but when it was proved that many of the missing links in the theory were fake & some pictures were drawn to prove it right while fossils of the same were never found till today.
Again & again the theory of Intelligent Creation is proving right, while why monkeys or apes remained the same without evolution is still not answered by these scientists.
When Dinosaurs lived humans too were living along side is irking the scientists as human steps preserved at the same time the bones of them have fossilized & found to be genuine by the same scientific community.
The same people will laugh now but when their theories get proven fake as time goes by they will stop the same. Until then they can go through -"Forbidden Science - Shattering the Myths of Darwin's Theory of Evolution" & evaluate the truth for yourselves.

    Dev,

''Many here are putting forward Darwin's Theory which is taught in most of the schools as reality, but when it was proved that many of the missing links in the theory were fake & some pictures were drawn to prove it right while fossils of the same were never found till today.''
Please tell me your sources and dont give me links to crack pot creationist sites.

''Again & again the theory of Intelligent Creation is proving right, while why monkeys or apes remained the same without evolution is still not answered by these scientists.''

What you are probably referring to is intelligent design. Its a crackpot theory(same like flat earth theory, or growing earth theory, or outlandish niburu theroy) ... with no explanation what so ever.
Why cant apes and monkeys share same time of existence? Monkeys are good at what they do and apes are good at what they do. You have not understood the basic concept of theory of evolution.

When Dinosaurs lived humans too were living along side.
My friend,.... they never did. Give me one evidence that anyone has found human remains below the KT boundry or dinosaurs above the KT boundry.

''The same people will laugh now but when their theories get proven fake as time goes by they will stop the same. Until then they can go through -"Forbidden Science - Shattering the Myths of Darwin's Theory of Evolution" & evaluate the truth for yourselves.''
Theory of evolution is the best explanation that we currently have for origin and evolution of species. Intelligent design (ID) does not prove anything. Please point out some credible scientist who think the ID is a good theory.

Theory of evolution is true. all the current dogs have descended from wolves. all the food that you can eat today are the products of artificial selection done by humans. that's basically evolution at work. If you claim that evolution isnt true then how come the bacteria or virus become immune to medicines?

Let Me tell you something, we humans live in this society irrespective of place, village, town or country. And also irrsepective of class, Lower Class, Middle Class or a Hi Fi Class. We live in this society and yet people (terrorists) plant bombs and several bomb blasts have taken place thereby loosing so many lives. So why dont you kill those people too because they too destroy the society right???? Are you showing your Manlihood by supporting those Monkey killers just because those monkeys cannot t alk?

I'm very sad because; just beacuse those animals are speechless doesnt mean you show your power on them!!!!!

Firstly we have to blame all the govts which ruled for 70 years. Govt started to plant Akashia, Manjium plants govt Forests, which do not give any fruits, but give fast money.
Due to constant cutting of fruit bearing trees like, jack, mango etc the forests are now full of non fruit bearing trees. That's the main reason monkeys are venturing into farm land.
Govt should start to plant only fruit bearing trees, henceforth and it will take another decade to solve the problems....
But is any politician, forest dept or wild life interested in this?

@Sanjay Hebri, you are talking about fruitbearing trees in forest.First of all there should be a proper forest we have to find nowadays.Forests are cut ,buildings are coming up,roads are made. Many people cut forest and sell trees in black.there is a big market for it.So poor animals suffer. On the other side, monkeys are so much increased in certain area,it has become really problem in areas for agriculture and humans too. That doesnt mean they should be poisoned. There are ways to avoid and live with them.

People in city may term this as Massacre. But only a farmer knows the menace these monkeys create . especially in the MalnAad Belt where they grow coffee, Cardamom, banana, oranges etc. AND THEN YOU WANT EVERYTHING FOR CHEAP PRICES, IF NOT BLAME DEMONITISATION, INFLATION, GST & MODI.

These creatures are not culled for religious or pleasure purposes. These is a huge pest problem which the famers/planters have to deal with. Along with labor problems, thanks to Freebies by the Govt, pest is a problem that has only once solution. Just get rid of them somehow.

Humanity, compassion, love... these are nice words. When you see your destroyed crops, vegetables, coconuts you forget these words and kills them.

There is a tribe in Orissa/Bihar border areas, that hunts monkeys for food. I wonder what would have happened if such people existed in Karnataka. Hanuman sena to protect monkeys ???

It must be noted that certain temples in border areas to forests, feed monkeys. Over a period, these animals multiply in numbers and migrate. With decreased forests and scarcity of food, they barge into areca nut/coconut and other farms, less feed on them but more destroy. Who shall be blamed ?

I agree with you. For the fear of devastation of their hard labour, people have even stopped growing vegetables around their courtyard. Fire crackers are either expensive or aren't available throughout the year. One can even fire licensed gun to shoo them away but again, ammunition costs too dearly and availing a gun license too doesn't come easily.

    George,

I had read an article about a man successfully kept monkeys at bay by using sound somewhere in Belthangady region. He fixed many tiny sound boxes within his farm and played really disturbing / loud music sounds. He was rewarded by the government for his invention.

There is a remedy for the peacock menace too - erect a fence around the vegetable plants and hang used clothes to it. Its said that human smell distracts the birds.

This is the work of a monkey catcher from Shakleshpur who is invited by planters all over DK to catch monkeys using a bamboo or areca bone cage. After catching them in this bone he bundles them in gunny bags and tells the owners to leave them near Agumbe. When owners tell him to transport them himself he would leave them near plantations where he has previously caught so the cycle of his earnings continues. Some owners sink these gunny bags in rivers or poison them.

    Joseph,

Darwin was the one who came up with the theory of evolution. And currently is considered a scientific fact.

Monkeys are not our ancestors. But apes and monkeys do share a common ancestor way back. You are asking about tail. We don't have one because humans (homosapians) are apes. We are closely related to apes. Even apes don't have tail.

There is a strong evidence of evolution. Just look at the dogs. They have evolved from wolves. Their evolution has been a result of artificial selection done by humans. All most all grains, fruits and vegetables are all result of evolution through artificial selection.

    Joseph,

Yes, evolution is a theory. But then... Einstien's relativity is also a theory.

If there is overwhelming consensus among scientific community... then it becomes a fact.

I am not going to go into details. If you were intelligent enough you would have figured it by now. No matter what I say, what evidence I provide you are not going to change your mind.... similar to flat earth believers. even they do the same despite overwhelming evidence.

If you feel a headache when hearing that man evolved from monkeys..... let me give you a bigger inconvenient truth. here it is - humans are also related to trees. at one point of time, we shared a common ancestor.... now thats mind boggling.
