Mangalore: Nellu Permannur's Konkani Play 'Bokro' A Hit With City Audience

Mangalore, Aug 24: Konkani play 'Bokro', written by Nellu Permannur and directed by Felix Lasrado, was staged at Town Hall, on Sunday, August 24, by the artistes of 'Asal Kalakar Manglur' troupe. This follows their successful plays 'Bongo', and 'Bonglo'. People were glued to their seats till the end and watched this comedy-filled suspense drama enacted by some of the finest actors of the Konkani stage.
Sandesha Lalita Kala Academy director Fr Valerian Mendonca, presided over the function. KCWA member and PRO Pascal Pinto, Kuwait, was the guest of honour. Stephen Mathias Kinnigoli, committee member of Asal Kalakar, Isaac Veigas Permannur, father of Nellu Permannur and Dayan D'Souza, co-founder, Daiji Dubai, were present on the dais during a function held prior to the show.
'We are fortunate to have a talented palywright like Nellu Permannur. Let him reach the pinnacle of success', said Pascal Pinto in his address. Fr Mendonca in his speech said, 'It is discipline and love for Konkani, which has taken Nellu to these heights. These qualities will fetch him more success in the days to come.'
Pascal Pinto was felicitated by Fr Mendoca. Isaac Veigas released the DVD and VCD of 'Bonglo' on the occasion. Jude Noronha welcomed the gathering and compered the programme. Stephen Mathias proposed the vote of thanks. The play ended with a wonderful message to all parents to look after their children with love and affection.
