Mangalore, Sep 4: Many alternative methods have been introduced in the field of teaching and learning, with the fast-changing technology now-a-days. Hence, the teachers and also the students have to adopt new technologies that are better and more productive, instead of clinging on to the traditional text book system, advised Dr Sandeep Sancheti, director of National Institute of Technology, Karnataka (NITK).
Speaking at the inaugural function of the first year B E course at St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Vamanjoor in the city on Thursday September 4, he said that the role of the teacher in a technical institution necessarily involves kindling of interest in the students by involving them in the process of learning. But self-learning is needed through out our lives. Therefore, a person should always strive to be a good learner, he added.
Even the students from the reputed institutions like IITs and IIScs lack the personality development skills like value education, language skills, managerial skills, time management etc. These skills are very much necessary for the overall development of a person to achieve goals by working to his fullest potential in a competitive world, he opined.
When people work in a group, the group may comprise of people with different qualification and experience. But the equal commitment and loyalty can help the group in achieving the set target, Sancheti told.
