Mangalore: Macaulay System of Education should be Abandoned - Kageri

Mangalore, Sep 10: State primary and secondary education minister Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri on Wednesday September 10 said that the prevailing Lord Macaulay's education system in India should be abandoned.
He was addressing the gathering after inaugurating one-day seminar for teachers at Swami Vivekananda Auditorium here organized by Ramakrishna Math, Mangaladevi.
Kageri said that the present education system is responsible to the chaos in the society and it can be contained only through old education system prevailed in the country in the pre-Independent era. He added, "Parents should send their children to the value-based education implemented schools instead of sending to branded schools. Etiquette is more important factor along with education."
Asking teachers to impart the values and teachings of Swami Vivekananda and Ramakrishna Paramhamsa to the children, he said that teachers are the assets of the nation who mould future citizens of the county.
Praising the activities of the Ramakrishna Math, minister asked the Math to work more to collect vox-populi related to value-based education to make the government to implement it easily. He also asked the DDPI C Chame Gowda to send the resolutions taken by the teachers in the three-day seminar.
Chame Gowda welcomed the gathering. MLA N Yogish Bhat, Swami Purnakamandji were also present. Dr Gururaj Karajgi, director, Academy for Creative Teaching, Bangalore delivered a lecture on 'Challenges of a teacher in 21st Century.'
