Muscat: Mangalorean Student Neil Roshan to Lead BIT Students' Council

Muscat, Nov 3: Neil Roshan D'Souza, dynamic and talented Mangalorean, aged 21 years has been elected as the first President of the Students' Council of Birla Institute of Technology (SULTANATE OF OMAN). The elections campaign was going on for a week and on the 15th October 2008, the Dean of the college announced the results amongst the three Omani and four Indian candidates who stood for prestigious president’s post of the institution. Neil Roshan won the position with a large number of votes. Dean was extremely delighted with the election results and also mentioned that in the history of the institution, for the first time an Indian has been elected as the president of the Student’s Council.
Neil has always shown his great talents in the academic studies as well as extra-curricular activities. In 2007, NEIL was elected as the vice president of the student’s council and was deeply involved in organizing major sports and cultural events as well as social activities. He has played a major role in organizing a successful Fashion Walk in the college .
In November 2007, NEIL won the prestigious Award “MR.ASIA OMAN 2007”, a contest held in the Sultanate of Oman among several participants.
NEIL ROSHAN is a final year student in Electronics and Communication Engineering. He was born in Bahrain and is proud son of ARTHUR DOLPHY AND RITA CLARA D'SOUZA from SHIRVA – MANGALORE diocese. His sister RACHELLE DSOUZA is also a talented personality exhibiting lot of talents and abilities. NEIL ROSHAN with his parents is an active member of the Mangalorean Catholic Community of the parish and he made all the Muscat Mangaloreans very proud.
