New Delhi, Nov 7: A day after Tata Motors announced block closure at its Jamshedpur plant, speculation was ripe that the company's Pune unit is also headed for a temporary shutdown due to slowdown in the market.
Tata Motors manufactures passenger vehicles at the Pune plant and it is believed that the company is facing a slowdown in this segment. When contacted, a company spokesperson denied that there were any immediate plans to halt production at the Pune plant though TV channels were flashing the news of a possible closure.
"Currently, production of the passenger vehicles is on at Pune. However, the company is closely monitoring the slowdown in the market and will take steps to align production in line with the demand when required," spokesperson told TOI.
The company had on Wednesday said that it will go for block closure at its Jamshedpur plant from November 6 to November 8 following the slowdown in demand for commercial vehicles.
