Bengaluru: Firecrackers to be burst only from 8 to 10 pm in State during Deepavali

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Nov 4: In line with Supreme Court’s order restricting time of bursting fire crackers to only two hours, the Karnataka government has passed directives that crackers can be burst in the state only between 8 pm and 10 pm from November 5 to 8.

In a circular dated November 2, the state government has banned the sale of chain-firecrackers such as ‘maley pataki’, in an attempt to curb noise pollution.

The circular also directs each district administration to carry out awareness drives about the ill effects and hazards of firecrackers. Not just that, all municipals corporations, district administrations, zilla and gram panchayats have been asked to keep a watch on those who burst crackers as part of community-organised events. The police personnel have been directed to take action against those violating the court’s order.

On October 23, in an attempt to curb pollution caused by the crackers, the Supreme Court had permitted the bursting of firecrackers between 8 pm and 10 pm for Deepavali across the country. During Christmas and New Year’s Eve, crackers can be burst between 11.55 pm and 12.30 am.

On October 30, the apex court modified the order, saying the southern states can burst firecrackers anytime in the day, for two hours during Deepavali, after Tamil Nadu went to the Supreme Court and stated that states should be able to choose any two hours.

The apex court also restrained e-commerce websites like Flipkart and Amazon from selling firecrackers.

The Supreme Court’s order on October 23 came on a plea seeking a ban on manufacture and sale of firecrackers across the country to curb air pollution.

The plea invoked right to life, enshrined in Article 21 of the constitution, to impose the ban on firecrackers. However the judges noted that even cracker manufacturers had right to life and therefore sought “balance” while considering a nation-wide ban.

No idea why firecrackers and Deepavali is related. Both are not meant to be related. It is all because of these Chinese influence as firecrackers originated from there.
My dear friends..please stop buying crackers, instead spend that money of 1000-5000 rupees in buying hundreds of Diyas and light them to actually symbolise DEEPAVALI. Imagine how beautiful your house/surrounding would appear.

LET IT BE FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS RATHER THAN SOUND.

    Happy Deepavali.

But even plastic trees are contributors for pollution. Why do you need that also, you can also just pray in mind? Why pollute environment with plastic and LED lights?

Plastic Christmas tree, led decorations from December 25 to January 1, is not waste of money... If hindus spend it's waste, if Jossey spends it's universal gain... Wow.... Nice logic

Glad that SC has taken a serious note of the pollution.
While it is fun, with more urbanization, increased affordability, poisonous gas and harmful chemicals also significantly increases in a given area. We must realize that whilst we celebrate Diwali, we have to live in this same atmosphere that we pollute and its after affects can be detrimental to the quality of life especially in cities. 8~10 pm is reasonable, although in Tamil Nadu, I hear they have also been give permission to fire crackers from 6~8 am on the eve of Narakachaturdashi.

    Unquote

Above statement made in this report is false and misleading.

The Noise Pollution Rules 2000 and the Hon’ble Supreme Court order dtd. 18 July 2005 in WP 72/98 clearly and unequivocally state that fire crackers shall not be burst at night time between 10 pm to 6 am and not for the entire 24 hrs in silence zones.
Christmas, New Year or whatever are no exception. Period.

    (2) Firecrackers are believed to have been discovered in China over 2000 years back. It is not an Indian tradition at all. Deepavali is the festival of LIGHTS celebrated in India!

    (3) Ram Rajya is the state which obeys the “RULE of LAW” . Post 1947 and 1950 the rule of law is what We the People have enshrined in the CONSTITUTION of India - according to which we wish the Legislature, the Executive and the Judiciary run this country.

    (4) The UOI has to be run according to the Constitution and not according to the whims, fancies, traditions, cultural practices etc. of Amar, Akbar or Anthony. These people may, in private, practice whatever they want (which has legal sanction) so long as nobody else is unwillingly forced to see, hear or feel in anyway those practices.

    (5) Article 25 (1) of the Constitution dealing with Right to Freedom of Religion
States “ Subject to public order, morality and health and to the other provisions of this Part, all persons are equally entitled to............. “

    (6) Fire crackers are very bad for the health of those who suffer from heart related problems & those who suffer from Asthma and other respiratory diseases. Loud fire crackers(particularly the bombs) can lead to deafness which is incurable. Heavy metals & chemicals used in fire crackers can lead to a variety of irreversible health disorders.
