Mangaluru, Jan 8: Supporters of Mohammed Haris Nalapad, son of Congress leader Nalapad Ahmed Haris who is contesting elections for the post of Youth Congress state president are facing allegations of kidnapping a child.

The Bengaluru based supporters had arrived for the Youth Congress election campaign in Mudipu. The men were near Deralakatte when they casually offered a child, who was with his parents, something to eat. However, this situation was misunderstood by the locals who alleged that the men in the car were planning to kidnap the child. The news went viral on social media and a tense situation prevailed in Deralakatte.

Around 12 supporters of Mohammed Haris Nalapad in two cars have been touring Mudipu, Konaje, Harekala and other places on account of the campaign. However, when the supporters got out of the car to help the child it was posted on social media as 'child kidnappers from another state'. This led to commotion in the area after which Konaje police arrived at the spot. The officials also took 12 supporters to the police station.

Youth Congress members also arrived at the Konaje police station and urged to resolve the matter amicably. The supporters further claimed that opposition might be behind giving a different angle to the situation.

Mohammed Haris Nalapad will be arriving in Mudipu on January 9 and his supporters arrived a day earlier. The supporters were found speaking to the child who was with the parents near Deralakatte. They also gave the child something to eat. After this, the situation was misread by the locals who then stopped the car with the supporters near Natekal.
