Ferarites-UAE celebrates Feast of Nativity:

Dubai, Sep 20: The parishioners of St.Francis Xavier Church, Ferar, living in UAE celebrated Monthi Fest, a feast of nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary with a great devotion and enthusiasm on Thursday, 16th September, 2010 at Winny’s Restaurant in Karama, Dubai.
The programme began at 8:30 PM sharp in the presence of a large gathering with the welcome note by Mr. Lawrence Cutino followed by a short prayer, while Ms. Pearl Fernandes read out the word of God.
Mr. Norbert Sequeira conducted a short condolence session for the departed soul of late Naveen Cutinho, who passed away on 17th of August due to a tragic accident. Naveen was an active member of Ferarites-UAE & Ferarites paid tributes to his service to the association.
The energetic President of the association Mr.Vincent Pereira, who has been leading the association with young and talented committee, welcomed the guests of honour Mr. Joseph Mathias and the gathering while he recalled few memories of celebrating monthi fest back home during his recent visit to India. He lauded the support of all sponsors for the success of various events orgainized by Ferarites.
Joseph Mathias, in his short speech congratulated Ferarites and wished success for future events. He also spoke about the importance of celebrating monthi fest.
The programme continued with variety entertainments such as spot games and dances by Rydell Tauro and Samson Pereira.
Children offered flowers to Infant Mary and expressed their gratitude and love on behalf of the group that gathered to sing “Moriyek Hogolsiam”. Blessed paddy brought from Ferar, mixed with milk was served to all those present, after the prayers conducted by Mrs. Rosetta Pereira. The gathering witnessed this day as one family and had a fellowship meal in the traditional way, on banana leaves. A vegetarian food consisting of nine varieties of vegetables, prepared by Winny’s Restaurant was served followed by delicious "Vorn"! which brought back the sweet memories of "Noven Jevan" back home.
Housie-housie game consisting six exciting prizes was conducted by Leslie Pinto. Prizes were given away to all the winners and participants of various events.
Lawrence Cutinhas with his wit and humour compered the programme beautifully. Ronald Moras was DJ of the event with his collection of most memorable multilingual songs.
Roshan Lobo raised vote of thanks and thanked all those who made the evening a memorable one. The programme was concluded at 12:00 midnight by singing “Laudhathe Dominum”.
