Mangaluru, Feb 7: The Missionary Children's Association (MCA) was inaugurated on Sunday February 6 at St Lawrence Church, Bondel. The programme began with a prayer song. Fr Rupesh Tauro, diocesan director, Pontifical Mission Societies through PowerPoint presentation gave more information about MCA to the children who gathered in big numbers.
The Missionary Children Association was founded in France in 1843 by Bishop Charles de Forbin Janson. Its motto, 'Children Helping Children' awakens the missionary spirit of prayer and generous sacrifice in all the children of the world, leading them to share both spiritual and material resources.
MCA members will be encouraged to pray daily and develop a strong relationship with God. They will learn the importance of praying for brothers and sisters in countries all over the world.
Fr Andrew Leo D'Souza, parish priest gave a few words of inspiration to all the kids and said, "The motto is 'Children helping Children'. Children in the mission may know Christ and experience His love and care."
Philomena Pinto compered the programme. Sr Leticia, PDDM welcomed everyone present and invited the dignitaries to take their seats on the dias. Fr Andrew Leo D'Souza, Fr Rupesh Tauro, Fr Peter Gonsalves, Reginald D'Souza, Celestine D'Souza were present. Shiney Monteiro rendered the vote of thanks.
