Bantwal, Oct 29: Sri Pranavananda Swami, national president of the Arya Ediga Kendra Samiti and seer of the Karadala Brahmashree Narayanaguru Shakti Peetha warned of an indefinite satyagraha in January 2023 if justice is not meted out to Idigas and Billawas.

He said Idigas and Billawas constituted a population of 70 lacs in Karnataka adding that he will go on a padayatra from Mangaluru to Bengaluru's Freedom Park from January 6 and launch an indefinite satyagraha if justice is not served to the communities.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday after arriving at the Sri Narayanaguru Mandira the seer said former minister B Janardhana Poojary will flag off the padayatra in Mangaluru. He said prominent leaders from various states are expected to arrive for the yatra.

The seer said the yatra will traverse through Siganduru and other places before reaching Bengaluru.

Pranavananda Swami said injustice has been meted out to the Billawa community in matters of reservation. "There are two ministers belonging to the community in the cabinet and yet it is of no use. A development corporation in the name of Narayanaguru should be announced and a budget of Rs 500 crore should be reserved for the purpose. Political parties and leaders want the votes and the quota from the Billawas but they don't want the community which is an attitude that should be slammed," he said.

The seer said injustice has been meted out to the community due to conspiracies in providing for proper representation to its people.

Later, he accepted the prasadam at the Gurumandira.

Office-bearers of the Bantwal Billawa Samaja were also present.
