Udupi, Nov 2: “The People in Karnataka are fedup of the 40% government and are waiting for elections to choose a change,” said Roji John, AICC secretary.

He was addressing a press conference at Congress Bhavan here on Wednesday, November 2.

“People are waiting for elections to choose a change. The signs are visible. We recently concluded Bharat Jodo Yatra in Karnataka. A large number of people have been participating in the yatra and have given us a lot of enthusiasm. The yatra is an answer for few dividing factors of India. Through this yatra people got to know who Rahul Gandhi really is. There was a rumour mechanism working to malign the image of Rahul Gandhi but the people got a chance to know the real him. The message is very clear, we don't want a divided country, we don't want a country where the people are fighting on the bases of religion, caste or ideologies. We want a united country, where people live in harmony. Live in peace and love each other. Starting from Kanyakumari to Telangana, we've been getting tremendous response on Bharat Jodo Yatra," Roji John said.

Speaking about the new AICC chief Mallikarjun Kharge visiting Karnataka, Roji John said, “Kharge has been elected as the AICC president. Being in a democratic country, all the political parties talk about democracy but when it comes to its internal matters, nobody takes it seriously. We’re happy and proud that Congress has conducted yet another election process in a very free and fair manner. On November 6, Mallikarjun Kharge will be coming to Bangaluru. KPCC has decided to give a warm welcome to Congress president here. There will be a massive reception for the Congress president. There will be workers participating from all over the districts, blocks and villages. We’ll have very good participation from all the assembly constituencies. This is the message we want to give to not only in Karnataka but to the entire country that in a democratic manner our president is elected and this is a model that we follow."

“We are also discussing organizational matters here because Karnataka people are looking for a change as they are fed up of the existing government. The goverment is only focused on making money and doing corruption and people are suffering day by day. There has to be a change in Karnataka. Procedure to select candidates has not begun yet. A screening committee will be formed which will be deciding on the candidate selection for each constituency,” he added.

Vinay Kumar Sorake, former minister, Ashok Kumar Kodavoor, president, Udupi district Congress, Ramesh Kanchan, president, Udupi block congress and others were present on the occasion.
