IMA Udupi to celebrate World Diabetes Day with 'Education to protect tomorrow’ theme

Udupi, Nov 4: The Indian Medical Association (IMA) of Udupi Karavali branch is organizing World Diabetes Day-2022 with the theme, 'Education to protect tomorrow' on November 13, Said Dr P V Bhandary, president, IMA Udupi.

Addressing a press conference, he said , “On the occasion of Diabetes Day on November 6, an awareness screening and workshop for Udupi district Asha Workers about diabetes from 9:30 am to 1 pm will be held under the joint auspices of the Indian Medical Association, district health and family welfare department and Lions Club Manipal at the IMA Bhavan here. The program will be inaugurated by Dr R N Bhat, senior physician.

On November 13, a walkathon has been organized from Udupi Board high school by the members of IMA Udupi. Students of various nursing colleges will participate. The walkathon will be flagged off by Dr Madhusudhan, district surgeon. An awareness program for nursing students and free diabetes check-up camp for the public will also be organized.

On November 14, from 7 am to 12 pm, a free diabetes check-up for the employees and the passengers of Konkan railways will be held at the city railway station. On November 20, a diabetes check-up and awareness program for the members of Dharmastala Sangh will be held at Nejar Ground. On November 27, the same will be held for the public at IMA Bhavan in Brahmhagiri.
