Udupi: Tempo hits scooter – Rider, pillion critically injured

Udupi, Nov 5: A scooter rider and another person riding pillion were critically injured after a tempo hit their scooter near Balayipade junction, NH 66.

The injured are identified as Andrew Mathias and his wife Wilma Mathias.

The couple was on their way to Shankarpura from Udupi on November 4 when the speeding tempo driven negligently from Shankerpura to Balayipade junction hit the scooter approaching from the opposite side. The scooter rider and his wife were thrown to the road in the impact and were seriously injured. They were admitted to Hitech Hospital for treatment, said the brother of Andrew Mathias who lodged a complaint at Udupi traffic police station.
