Thieves target schools in Udupi, Mangaluru

Udupi/Mangaluru, Nov 8: Of late, thieves are targeting schools and colleges of twin districts. Thefts have occurred in several schools and colleges. Cash and things are stolen from the educational institutions.

On the late night of Sunday, thieves broke the lock of school office at Adiudupi high school and took away things worth thousands of rupees. Cash amounting to Rs 45,144 including RD, photocopy money, cash meant for Akshara Dasoha, SSLC examination fee is stolen. A case in this regard is filed in Udupi city police station.

In Malpe, thieves entered Malpe Fisheries and Gandhi Centenary schools on the late night of Sunday. The thieves who entered the principals room after breaking open the lock of Malpe college, stole Rs 5,000 in cash and the golden medal given to college by the government. They also broken open the office and staff room of high school and broke the lock of six cupboards. As they did not get anything, the thieves took away 10 LED bulbs. The thieves did not get any valuables at Gandhi Centenary school, though they entered inside after breaking open the lock.

At Haleangadi, theft occurred at Sri Narayana Sanil government pre-university college. The thieves who broke open eight out of the 10 cupboards in the college ransacked important documents and threw them all over the place. They stole Rs 15,000 cash kept in cupboard. Mulky police have registered a complaint.
