Udupi: Revision of voters' list from Nov 9 – DC Kurma Rao

Udupi, Nov 9: “A revision of the voters' list will be in progress from November 9 to December 8. Addition of names, corrections etc., if any should be ensured during the period. No changes will be possible on the day of elections,” said deputy commissioner Kurma Rao.

He was speaking at a press conference regarding revision of the voters' list held at the deputy commissioner’s office on wednesday, November 9.

“There are 10,05,452 voters in the draft voter’s list of five assembly constituencies including Byndoor, Kaup, Udupi, Kundapur and Karkala. Objections, if any, can be rectified during the next one month. Special publicity campaign will be held in this connection on November 12, 20 and December 3. Everybody should see the draft list and make sure that their names are included. Those who have completed 18 years can submit their application along with any documents on January 1, April 1, July 1 and October 1. The voter IDs will be sent by speed post.”

“The names can also be added or corrected over www.nvsp.in and voter helpline. The voting booth officials will be present at the booths on November 12, 20, December 3 and 4. People may approach them for review of their names and information. People can confirm that their names are added on the website www.udupi.nic.in or helpline 1950.”

“As many as 13,529 young voters were added to the voters' list in the district. The EP ratio of the voters this time is 679.58%. It is more than the percentage in the state,” he said.

“District panchayat chief executive Prasanna H said that campaigns are being conducted in all the colleges of the district through election literacy clubs. Awareness is also being created at gram panchayat levels,” he said.
