Mangaluru: Derogatory post against Pratibha Kulai – Accused granted anticipatory bail

Mangaluru, Nov 11: Court granted anticipatory bail to Shyamsudarshan Bhat, resident of Puttur, who posted derogatory comments on social media against Congress leaders and former corporator Pratibha Kulai.

Shyamsundar had applied for bail at the second additional district sessions court of the city on October 25 and the same was granted to him on November 9.

The court initially accepted the request of the government prosecutor to give some time to submit an objection to anticipatory bail of the accused. The court asked the prosecutor to submit an objection on or before October 31 and also ordered not to arrest the accused till that time.

Justice Preeti who conducted the inquiry of the bail application granted anticipatory bail to the accused. Lawyer Shambu Sharma argued for the accused.

Police had filed case against Shyamsudarshan Bhat Hosamoole and K R Shetty Adyarpadavu for posting derogatory comments on Facebook on the photograph of Pratibha Kulai, who lied down on the road during the protest for Surathkal toll gate removal when the police tried to take her into custody.

K R Shetty surrendered to the court. His bail application was rejected and he was sent to judicial custody.
