Madikeri, Jan 10: In the general body meeting of district bunts association which was held at Agnonima resort at Maggula near Virajpet on Sunday, B R Ratnakar Shetty, senior lawyer and office bearer in various organizations, was unanimously elected as the president of the association.

The meeting was presided over by immediate past president Narayana Rai. Balakrishna Rai and Narayana Rai were elected as honorary presidents. Shabrish Shetty of Virajpet was elected as the chief secretary. New administrative committee and presidents for five taluks were nominated during the meeting.

B Ratnakar Shetty who is the recipient of life achievement award for handling the most number of cases at Virajpet and Kodagu courts, was honoured by Virajpet taluk Tuluverena Janapada Koota.

District committee members B M Ganesh, Divya, Bharat Rai, Vinod Poojary, B G Anita, Sharath Rai, Ganesh Perambady and taluk president Shabreesh Shetty were present.
