Udupi: Fire breaks out in Manchi reserve forest area

Udupi, Jan 10: Fire broke out at Rajivnagar of 80 Badagabettu village coming under the reserve forest of Manchi here on Tuesday , January 10 afternoon. Fortunately there was no loss of life.

The fire that started in the forest spread to the entire nearby vicinity. The environment was covered with thick smoke. The dry grass on the barren field of Rathna Acharya at Rajivnagar, firewood piled near a house and acacia trees of the forest were gutted in the fire.

A small spark of fire was seen in the forest in the beginning which gradually spread to about two acres of land near 6th Cross road of Rajivnagar. Local people immediately alerted the fire service department who rushed to the spot, doused the fire and averted a huge destruction.
