Udupi: Several leaders from BJP, Janata Dal joining Congress – Dhruva Narayan

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (JS/EP)

Udupi, Jan 18: “Congress party is receiving huge support in the state. Several leaders from the BJP and the Janata Dal are joining Congress,” said Congress party Mysuru division in charge Dhruva Narayan.

Speaking in the news conference at Udupi he said that several people and former MLAs who have lost faith in the BJP and Janata Dal are joining Congress party. “Congress party will receive majority mandate and come back to power in the next elections. We have fulfilled all the promises made by us during the term of Siddaramaiah government. But the BJP is unable to say the number of promises mentioned by them in the party manifesto and implemented by them as they were unable to fulfil even 60 of the 600 promises made by them. They are conducting Jana Sankalpa Yatre now and after the elections they will be conducting Dhana Sankalpa Yatre,” he said.

Reacting to the statement by minister Sunil Kumar that Congress party is trying to privatise the electricity corporation by announcing free electricity, he said that the minister has made a statement out of frustration. “Karnataka is self-sufficient in the generation of electricity. D K Shivakumar was the minister of energy when Siddaramaiah was the chief minister during Congress term. We had made good the scarcity of 2,000 megawatts. The largest solar park in Asia was constructed during our term. Congress party does as it says,” he said.

“There was a loan of Rs 2.5 lac crores by the state during 70 years when BJP came to power in the state but the loan has doubled to Rs 5 lac crores during the three year’s rule of the BJP. BJP is emptying and looting the treasury. Amit Shah instead of speaking about the growth of the country during the meeting at Mandya only spoke about constructing temples at Ramanagara and Srirangapatna. We are not against construction of temples as we too are devotees. Congress is the party that feeds the hungry,” he said.

Congress’ Prajadhwani Yatra to reach Udupi on Jan 22

“Prajadhwani Yatra will reach Udupi on January 22 and a huge gathering of Congress party members will be held in Christian high school grounds,” said Dhurv Narayan.

He further said, “KPCC president D K Shivakumar and opposition leader Siddaramaiah led Prajadhwani samavesha is being organized in every district. A large number of people are participating in this programme everywhere. On January 22, at 10 am Prjadhwani programme will be held here. More than 25,000 people will be participating in this programme. The AICC has appointed in-charge responsibilities for 28 assembly constituencies. Through this Yatra, we will highlight the programmes of the Congress party during its tenure in the state and also the failures of the BJP government will be brought to the notice of the public. The BJP had a golden opportunity even though they came to power through ‘Operation Kamala’. They could have given good governance and schemes to the public. But they failed in both. During the 2008-13 tenure, they faced severe corruption charges and chief minister Yediyurappa and five other ministers had to resign. In three years, there were three chief ministers. Even though they came to power through backdoors, they have failed to provide good governance. Corruption is out of control today. The amount of corruption is such that no other state in the country has seen such corruption. Basavaraj Patil Yatnal and other members of the ruling party itself are speaking about corruption. Yogeshwar has termed Amit Shah as a goonda element. Through this Yatra, we will enlighten public about the failures of the BJP.

“On January 22, Prajadhwani Yatra will be held in Christian high school grounds. KPCC president DK Shivakumar, opposition leader Siddaramaiah and AICC chief secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala and other leaders will be participating in the programme,” he said.

AICC secretary, Mysuru division in charge Rosy John, district Congress president Ashok Kumar Kodavoor, Chikkamagaluru and Udupi block in charge Prathapan, KPCC vice president Vinay Kumar Sorake, all India fishermen Congress president Armstrong Fernandes, state fishermen Congress president Manjunath Sonegar, district spokesperson Bhasker Rao Kidiyoor and district Congress vice president Prakhyat Shetty were present.
