Karkala, Jan 21: Confraternity day was celebrated ahead of the annual feast at St Lawrence Minor Basilica Attur on Saturday January 21.
Fr Cyril Lobo, director, Divya Jyothi was the chief celebrant for the Eucharistic celebrations. In his homily, Fr Cyril stressed upon unity, brotherhood and inter-religious harmony.
Special prayers were offered for the sick brethren.
A Eucharistic procession was also conducted from the church premises to Gundyadka Sharada Mantapa ground.
Fr Alban D'Souza, rector, St Lawrence Minor Basilica Attur and other priests were present on the occasion.
Festival Masses and celebrations
The annual feast of the St Lawrence Minor Basilica will be celebrated from January 22 to 26. The theme for the annual feast of 2023 is ‘You will be my Witnesses’.
Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, bishop, diocese of Udupi, will preside over the Holy Eucharistic celebration on Sunday, January 22 at 10 am. The Mass will be celebrated in Konkani. At 2 pm, there will be a special Mass and prayers for children.
Geevarghese Mar Macarios Kalyil, bishop of Puttur will preside over the Holy Eucharistic celebrations on Monday, January 23 at 10 am. The Mass will be in Kannada.
Dr Lawrence Mukkuzhy, bishop, diocese of Beltangady will preside over the Holy Eucharistic celebration on Tuesday, January 24 at 6 pm. The Mass will be celebrated in Kannada.
Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, bishop emeritus, diocese of Mangalore, will preside over the festive Mass on Wednesday, January 25 at 10 am. The Mass will be celebrated in Konkani.
Dr Bernard Moras, archbishop emeritus Bangalore archdiocese will preside over the mass on Thursday, January 26 at 10 am. The Mass will be celebrated in Konkani.
There will be seven Masses daily from January 22 to 26. The first Mass of the day will be at 8 am and the last Mass at 8 pm.
Candles for votive offering and other religious articles are available in the shrine stall situated in the campus. Arrangements are made for Sacrament of Confession during the festival days in the shrine.
