Mangaluru: Much-awaited ‘Nirantar Natakotsava’ from Jan 30

Mangaluru, Jan 30: ‘Nirantar Natakotsava 2023’ by Nirantar Udyavar is all set to be held from January 30 to February 5. Nirantar Udyavar is an association working for Konkani language, culture, and art in its own way. For the last four years, the organization has been instrumental in organizing various programmes in the district in this regard.

‘Nirantar Natakotsav’ is one of the prominent events organized by Nirantar Udyavar. Various renowned drama troupes of Konkani have staged plays over the last four years.

Nirantar Udyavar is now all set to host ‘Nirantar Natakotsava 2023’ for the fifth year. The drama festival will be held at ICYM Udyavar golden jubilee stage here on Udyavar church grounds.

On January 30, Tulu drama 'Hey Ram' by Bhoomigeetha Samskruthika Vedike Patla directed by Santhosh Nayak Patla will be performed.

On January 31, Kalaradhan Shankerpura troupe will be performing 'Kamil Kalwar' directed by Ganesh Rao Yellur in Konkani.

Little Earth School of Theatre, Kerala will be performing 'Bolivian Stars' directed by Arun Lal on February 1 in Malayalam.

On February 2, Astitva Mangaluru and St Aloysius Ranga Adhyayana Kendra Mangaluru troupe will be performing Kannada drama 'Janashatru' directed by S Surendranath.

On February 3, St Aloysius Ranga Adhyayana Kendra will be performing 'Can't Pay Won't Pay', an English drama directed by Sweedal.

On February 4, Astitva Magaluru will be performing Konkani drama “Adanvani Yeven Ughadle Dole Rachnara ata tunch pole' directed by Christi.

On the last day of the drama festival on February 5, Astitva Mangaluru will perform Konkani drama 'Emmanvsu' directed by Christi.

Entry will be free of cost for the audience.

Nirantar Udyavar was the dream child of Udyavrities Steevan Colaco and Michel D'Souza who wanted to create something new and unique in the Konkani art field. As there were less opportunities for the people of Udupi to witness Konkani cultural programmes in their hometowns, Nirantar Udyavar was established to bridge the gap. On August 12, 2018 Nirantar Udyavar came into existence. ‘Vechogi Ravcho’ by Pradeep Barboza Paladka became the first drama to be hosted by Nirantar Udyavar.
