Kasargod, Jan 31: Cameraman of a private TV channel showed exemplary presence of mind and caught a POCSO case accused, who was running along with the handcuffs, trying to escape from the cops, when he was brought for medical check-up by the police.

The movie style incident occurred at around 8.30 pm on Saturday near Kasargod general hospital. Abdul alias Shafi (28), resident of Vidyanagar police station limits is the accused who tried to flee.

Abdul alias Shafi was arrested on the accusation of kidnapping a 17 year old girl in September 2022 and keeping her in a hide-out in Karnataka and sexually harassing her repeatedly.

Abdul was taken to Kasargod general hospital for medical check-up before presenting him to the court. As the cops were removing handcuff of one hand as per doctor’s advice, the accused pushed three policemen who were escorting him and started running. However, the cameraman of a private TV channel who was nearby, chased the accused and caught him and handed over to police.
