Karkala, Jan 31: A truck driver of Tamil Nadu origin was murdered by another truck driver of the same state over some unknown issue near Sri Devi Cashew factory at Mudralu of Mudaru village of the taluk at around 4 pm of January 30.

According to the complaint filed by Praveen Poojary (22), an employee of Sri Devi Cashew factory, he was working on top of the roof of the factory at around 4 pm on January 30. He heard the screaming of a person from the truck parking area of the factory. When Praveen rushed to the spot, he saw Mani (36), driver of the truck that arrived from Tamil Nadu with cashew nuts, murdered in front of his truck by strangling him with a shawl and stabbing on left collar bone with some sharp weapon.

Mani and Veerabahu, driver of another cashewnut laden truck that arrived from Tamil Nadu were quarrelling with each other and there is a possibility that Veerabahu must have killed Mani in a fit of rage.

Karkala rural police station personnel have registered a case and are probing further.
