Udupi: Stinking waste water clogged at signal pit causes problems for pedestrians

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (JS/EP)

Udupi, Feb 9: A deep pit has been dug near the Triveni Circle on poet Muddanna Road to erect a signal post. The work that is progressing at a snail’s pace has caused problems for the people. District Nagarika Samithi activist Nithyananda Olakadu and Taranath Mestha Shirur have called for completion of the work without further delay.

The main drainage pipe was damaged while digging a pit to erect a pillar for the signal post and a large amount of waste water got accumulated in it causing an unbearable stench in the vicinity forcing pedestrians to move with their noses closed. As there are hotels nearby, it might become a breeding ground for  mosquitoes. As there is no street light, passing vehicles and pedestrians are likely to fall in the pit.

The pit is  also affecting smooth flow of traffic which is dense here. The activists of the district Nagarika Samithi have urged the officials to look into it.
