Udupi, Feb 11: A four member French delegation from Gandhi Au Service Du Development, France, paid a short visit to St John’s High School (Kannada Medium), Shankerpura. This organization had been instrumental in helping many schools in India. They have been invited by Gandhi Seva Ashram, Kaup. The main activities of this French organization is providing educational equipment to school. Last year, they have provided one each projector, microscope and a TV set. Devdas Shetty of Gandhi Seva ashram was instrumental in organizing these educational instruments to St John’s High School, Shankerpura.
A felicitation programme was arranged at the High School Hall for the delegates Eves, Benoit Maunoury, Helen and Christine Bremo.
Archana (science teacher) introduced the delegates to the school children and headmaster Ashwin Rodrigues accorded a warm welcome. The guests were offered jasmine flower garlands by school students. Alphonse Mendonsa (well-wisher of school) felicitated the guests with traditional shawl and he also thanked them for visiting the St John’s High School and appreciated their willingness to help out the school whenever possible.
In response, Benoit Maunoury thanked the Ashwin and all the staff for their dedication in providing best education to school. He said, “We are happy to visit your school and learn about all the educational and other activities and also students achieving best results in every field. I wish you all the success and promise our support whenever the school needs.”
Earlier, Alphonse Mendonsa briefed the guests on school management, local and government aids the school receiving. Ashwin explained to them the school strength and number of students studying in both Kannada and English medium Schools.
Ayesha Naziba (student) expressed her opinion about the school and Anavia D’Souza proposed vote of thanks.
A short patriotic dance performance by students entertained the guests.
At the end of the felicitation programme, Devdas Shetty of Gandhi Seva Ashram Kaup presented a seminar on electricity generation.
