Udupi: Fisherman falls into drum winch on boat, dies

Udupi, Feb 13: A fisherman died while fishing in deep sea as he lost his balance and fell into the drum winch that pulls the net and bled to death.

Nagarajan, cousin of Lokesh Narayan Harikanta, resident of Somaiahna Mane of Bailoor, Bhatkal taluk is the deceased.

Nagarajan was working as Kalasi on the Sri Krishna Chakra boat owned by Pratap Suvarna of Malpe. On February 5, the said boat left Malpe port at 10 pm and reached 200 nautical miles in Arabian Sea on February 11. Around 5.45 am, due to the force of huge waves, Nagarajan lost balance and fell on the winch drum that is used to pull the net and bled to death on the spot.

A case in this connection is registered in Malpe police station.
