Kundapur, Feb 15: Kollur temple has got a new chariot after 400 years. Sunil R Shetty, son of entrepreneur late R N Shetty has got it constructed and donated it to the temple. The chariot is constructed in the model of the first chariot. It was constructed at the Vishwakarma Karakushala Shilpakala Kendra of Kumbhasi and will be offered to Mookambika deity on February 16.

Pura Pravesha was set in motion on Feb 15 for the purpose. Kollur Mookambika temple managing committee president Chandrashekar Shetty Keradi, managing committee members, sculptures Laxminarayana Acharya, Rajashekar Acharya and the temple leaders were present.

The chariot was welcomed all along on Kundapur road shouting religious slogans and Poornakumbha. Pooja was offered to the chariot. Leaders of various temples from Kundapur and people offered flowers to the chariot.

It will be offered to the deity on February 16 in the presence of donors.
