Kundapur: Speeding two-wheeler kills elk calf on spot

Kundapur, Feb 15: An elk calf was killed on the spot as it was hit by a speeding two-wheeler. The two-wheeler was damaged and the rider was injured in the impact. The incident happened on Kollur state highway on Tuesday February 15 morning.

An artiste of Kamalashile Durgaparameshwari Kripaposhita Yakshagana Mandali was travelling on his scooter from Chittur to Kollur on Tuesday morning. The elk jumped on the road all of a sudden near the petrol bunk at Harmannu and hit the front portion of the scooter.

The elk suffered injuries to its head and died on the spot. The front portion of the scooter was damaged. Forest department officials arrived at the spot and conducted an inspection. A case in this connection is registered at Kollur police station.
