Bantwal, Feb 16: “The Moodooru – Padooru Bantwal Kambala of the 12th year will be held at Koodibail of Navooru village in Bantwal,” said former minister, honorary president of Kambala committee, B Ramanath Rai.

Speaking at a news conference at Hotel Rangoli, B C Road on Thursday, February 16, he said the preparations for the event are in progress. “The Kambala is being held by the Kambala Committee with the name ‘Bantwal Kambala’ and with the blessings from Dharmastala Dharamadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade. "We encountered the issue of rain last year. We intend to hold the Kambala in March itself this year with the cooperation of the Kambala committee,” he said.

“The Kambala committee is newly formed for the success of the event and all the problems that were faced last year are done away with. It is intended to conduct the Kambala with pomp and gaiety. Film stars, dignitaries from various sectors and entrepreneurs will participate,” he said.

“The owners of Koodibail fields of Navoor village have extended all the cooperation. About 200 pairs of buffaloes are expected to take part,” said Kambala committee president Pius L Rodrigues.

Committee convener Padmashekar Jain, president Prakash Shetty Tumbe, office bearers Baby Kunder, Sudeep Kumar Shetty, Abbas Ali, Rajiv Shetty Edthoor, M S Mohammed, Padmanabha Rai, Avil Menezes, Subhash Chandra Shetty, Umesh Kulal, Deviprasad Poonja, Sadashiva Bangera, Nawaz Badakabail, Shabir, Jagadish Koila, Ramesh Nayak Rai, Vasu Poojary, Sanjith Poojary, Venkapa Poojary, Suresh Jora, Valerian D’ Sa, John Cyril D’ Souza, B Mohan and others were present. The invitations to the Kambala buffalo owners were released on the occasion.
