Byndoor: Rs 20 lac cash transported in car without documents seized by police

Byndoor, Mar 17: Police personnel of Byndoor police station confiscated Rs 20 lac that was being transported in a car without relevant document on March 16.

Sub inspector Niranjan Gowda and personnel were carrying out vehicle checking at Shiroor check post at around 1.40 pm on March 16. They stopped a car without registration number plate that arrived from Bhatkal. On checking the car, they found a plastic bundle below the rear seat which contained cash. On inquiry about the documents for the cash, the driver said that there is no relevant record.

On checking, the cops found 3000 currency notes of Rs 100 face value, 1000 notes of Rs 200 face value and 3000 notes of Rs 500 face value. The total cash found is Rs 20 lac.

Accused Basheer (42), a resident of Manjilapalke, Shirlalu, Beltangady, who was driving the car, was arrested and a case is registered in this connection.
