Mangaluru: Teacher sentenced to life over unnatural sex with student

Mangaluru, Jul 27: Teacher, who had unnatural sex with his student and also threatened him with dire consequences, was sentenced to life by the additional district and session court (FTSC-1) judge Manjula Itti.

Prithviraj (33), resident of Kulai, is the accused who was convicted by the court. He had sexually assaulted a SSLC student from August 1, 2014 to September 2, 2016 in an unnatural manner. A case in this connection was registered in Suratkal police station.

Accused Prithiviraj used to have unnatural sex with the victim at his home regularly. He also threatened the victim of cutting down his marks and attendance in school if he confides the matter with anyone.

When a boil developed on the private part of the boy, he was taken to a doctor by his parents. During consultation with the doctor, the boy narrated the ordeal he was undergoing. Suratkal inspector Cheluvaraju B, conducted inquiry and submitted chargesheet to the court.

Justice Manjula Itti, who conducted the inquiry, pronounced accused as guilty and sentenced him to life in prison. The accused is fined Rs 25000 under POCSO section 6. In addition, the judge also ordered state government to pay Rs one lac compensation for the victim boy.

Special public prosecutor Sahana Devi argued for the prosecution.
