Udupi, Jul 29: “B K Hariprasad is eligible to be the chief minister of the state and also as a minister. He should be given an able position according to his ability by the Congress,” said Swami Pranavananda.

Addressing media on Saturday July 29, he said, “There is no other leader in the Congress compared to B K Hariprasad who strongly opposes any act against the welfare of people. He has worked for the Congress to come to power. The Billawa community is always neglected in politics. The community lacks political knowledge. The Billawa community is always neglected. No fund has been reserved for the Narayanaguru Corporation in the budget. The government must answer this.”

He further said, “The failure of Vinay Kumar Sorake and Gopal Poojary is the failure of the Billawa community. The committee had been door-to-door and brought awareness in people about the community. Though the population of Ediga, Billava and Vishwakarma is high, they are not given justice. Hence, we are planning to start an extreme backward class association.

“The committee has organised a preliminary meeting in Palace Garden on September 9 and Chinthana Shibhira on August 27 in Udupi, a day-long event where representatives from different Billawa associations will take part. A self-esteem conference is also organised in Udupi, where 5 lac people of the community will take part,” he said.

Chandrashekar Kaup, leader of Rashtriya Ediga-Billava Mahamandali, Ramesh Poojary, Sarvotham Poojary, Vijay Kumar Poojary, Jaya Kumar Poojary, Ragavendra Amin, Balachandra Poojary, Ramanna Poojary and Rajkumar were present.
