Mangaluru: 'Laudato Si' Sunday celebrated at St Lawrence Church, Bondel

Mangaluru, Jul 30: Parisar Ayog (Environment Commission celebrated 'Laudato Si' Sunday at St Lawrence Church Campus on July 30 at 8:00 am. .

Fr Andrew Leo D’Souza welcomed the guest for the day, Jeeth Milan Roche, an environmentalist, with a flower bouquet & a shawl. Fr Andrew Leo D”Souza, Fr Lancy D’Souza, John D’Silva-vice president parish pastoral council, Santhosh Misquith secretary, Harold Pinto convener- Parisar Ayog (Environment Commission) were present.

The chief guest for the day was Jeeth Milan Roche, an eminent environmentalist. In his keynote address, he stressed the need to reduce the use of plastic and thereby avoid an imminent environmental disaster. He presented practical ways to protect the environment. the importance of protecting the environment and how youth play a major role in it.

Jeeth Milan Roche in his address urged all children - that humans are the most insane species on earth created by God and we need to disprove this, by preserving our nature. We need not protect nature, but we have to protect ourselves from nature.

The chief guest, parish clergy, vice president, secretary – parish pastoral council, convener of Parisar Ayog planted saplings on the church premises along with members of Parisar Ayog. Saplings were distributed to all the parishioners.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Fr Andrew Leo D’Souza.
