Kundapur: Stolen sandalwood tree confiscated

Kundapura, Jul 30: The Kundapur forest department staff has confiscated a sandalwood tree that was cut illegally in Karibailu of Bellala village and said that they will arrest the culprits soon.

The value of the cut sandalwood trees is said to be Rs 2 lacs.

The operation was directed by DCF Udaya M Naik, led by ACF Clifford Lobo and carried out by range forest officer Kiran Babu T, deputy range forest officers Anand Balegara, Sharath Ganiga, Geetha Yasannanavar and forest patrol wardens Raghavendra, Vijaya K, forest watcher Udaya and driver Ashoka.

    Why not grow these by private people and sold ???i dont understand the sophesticated process and rules around a sandalwood tree which can be grown ..offocurse it takes 25 years plus but many are interested so why not alllow them ....
