Bantwal, Jul 30: Although the Wagga-Uli road of the taluk has been developed at a cost of Rs.4 crore, the road work has not been completed in Badekottu of Maninalkur village, and the public is expressing outrage that it has not been completed even after many months.

A grant was provided last year by the Public Works Department for the development of this road connecting Wagga to Kakyapadavu. The road up to Kakyapadavu was widened and developed and made into an all-season road. For widening the road near Badekottu, the roadside was dug and graveled.

A part of the road was paved. But in another part, about 50 meters of the road has been graveled and left as it is. Locals have alleged that the contractors who left like that have not returned to this area. There is a turn here and vehicles pass from one side during the day, but it is dangerous at night. Two-wheelers are prone to skidding.

Roadside pothole

On this same road a little further from here there is a roadside pothole. The pothole has swallowed a portion of the road. This hole was dug for pipeline work and remains as it is because the work is incomplete. Water is flowing on the side of the road and the pothole is widening.

The road is also bad because the asphalt is not laid here. But the fact that the concerned authorities have not taken steps to repair it has created outrage among the two-wheeler commuters and the public.
