Bantwal, July 31: “All the organs will have to join and work in tandem in the prevailing conditions of the country. Students should make use of the library and develop a habit of reading. Society accepts good principles. Students should know the way journalists correct society. Society maintains equilibrium from journalism,” said Puttur MLA Ashok Kumar Rai.

He was speaking after inaugurating the programme of distributing Manipal Arogya Cards to members of Karyanirata Patrakartara Sangha, Bantwal, and addressing the students held under the aegis of Sangha at Basavanagudi Vittal Jaycees English Medium School on Monday.

Puttur-based journalist Sudhakar Suvarna said that Vitla has had special prestige since the days of the kings. “There is an indivisible link between the police and the journalists here. Newspapers are like mirrors and they act as a link between people. The importance of newspapers has increased towards formation of a good society,” he said.

Karyaniratha Patrakartara Sangha Bantwal unit president Prashanth Punjalkatte presided over the programme. The request for various demands from journalists and those of the school administration were forwarded on the occasion.

Karyanirata Patrakartara Sangha district president Srinivas Nayak Indaje, Maharashtra Kannadiga Patrakartara Sangha president Rons Bantwal, Vittal Jaycees Education society president L N Kudoor, school management officer Radhakrishna Erumbu, Mangaluru KMC marketing division’s Manmohan, Udaya and Kartik Nair were present.

Vittal Jaycees English medium school principal Jayarama Rai welcomed. Bantwal taluk unit chief secretary Mounesh Vishwakarma gave an introduction. Journalist K Punacha rendered the vote of thanks. Journalist Udayashanker Nirpaje compered the programme.
