Moral policing cases recurring in DK – Anti-communal wing limited only to statement?: SDPI

Mangaluru, Aug 1: “Moral policing by sangh Parivar in increasing day by day in the district of Dakshina Kannada. It seems that the anti-communal wing established by the newly formed Congress government seems to have done to appease the Muslims. In the press conference only wing was announced but it is seen that it is not active practically in many cases seen in recent days,” said Ashraf Addoor, chief secretary of SDPI, Dakshina Kannada district.

A press statement is released on this subject by Addoor in which he said, “A week ago, a police personnel was returning after going to hotel with his sister in law and wife at Bantwal. He was waylaid by Sangh Parivar people and questioned where he is taking a Hindu girl and assaulted him.

“Similarly, on July 26, at Kavoor, an online media reporter had taken his friend of the same caste to a restaurant. While they were returning, Sangh Parivar activists raised the same question with the reporter.

“When these developments are analysed closely, it seems that these are systematically hatched plots. Though anti-communal wing is formed by the Congress government for Dakshina Kannada to prevent such happenings, it seems the wing does not practically do any work and is made only for name sake and to appease the Muslim community.

“It is also possible that police officers with Sangh Parivar mentality are purposely not taking action as this wing if becomes successful might be extended throughout the state.

“Though the state government is changed, moral policing activities of Sangh Parivar have not stopped. The recent happenings in the district are proof for this. The intention of attackers is very clear that they want to trap Muslim boys. This is very serious issue and proof enough that the Sangh Parivar is systematically hatching plot to attack Muslims.

“State government and district administration should make sure that culprits of such incidents get maximum punishment. It should recruit probationary IAS officers for the anti-communal wing and activate the same to protect the law and order of Dakshina Kannada district,” he stated.
