Bantwal, Aug 1: The first additional session's court has acquitted all seven men accused of hindering police duty during a Congress party's harmony program at Kalladka, seven years ago, citing a lack of evidence.

The accused were alleged to have obstructed police officers and staff during a speech at the program held on March 8, 2014. Charges against them included assaulting police, attempted murder, arson, and causing trouble to the public.

The police had filed a suo moto complaint at Bantwal town police station, naming Kalladka resident Krishnappa and 28 others, and subsequently filed a charge sheet in court. After hearing the case, the court acquitted all seven accused due to insufficient evidence.

Advocate K Shambhu Sharma represented the accused during the trial.
