Udupi: IFKCA to hold protest meet, rally against Manipur violence on Aug 2

Udupi, Aug 1: A rally by foot and protests have been planned here under the leadership of like-minded organisations forum on August 2 condemning the violence in Manipur since the last three months.

The International Federation of Karnataka Christian Associations (IFKCA) district honorary Udupi president Louis Lobo Kalmady has urged the public to participate in the protest and make it a success.



“The protest rally and meeting held in the leadership of important local organisations will begin from the Mother of Sorrows Church and proceed via service bus stand, KM Marg and Court Road before concluding at the Mission Compound after a meeting. More than 7,000 people are likely to participate in the protest meeting at Christian High School grounds,” he said.

“There has been brutal friction between two ethnic communities in Manipur since the last three months. The union government and the state governments should take suitable action and ensure that such incidents do not reoccur,” he said.
