Udupi, Aug 6: KPCC spokesperson Veronica Cornelio has questioned as to why the BJP and the Sangh Parivar leaders who tried to blow up the Udupi college washroom video shoot case into a national issue, kept mum in the case of a Hindu woman taking bath being videographaed by a Hindu Jagarana Vedike youth Pakshikere of Mulki.

"It stands out in this that when a lady's modesty is outraged, the BJP people who claim to worship women as God, only see the caste or religion of the accused first and then decide to protest. Don't they know that the victim who was humiliated in Mulki was also a woman? BJP and Sangh Parivar have kept their mouths shut even when youths who allegedly belonging to Sangh Parivar brutally raped an innocent minor Dalit girl in Vittal, which highlights their double standards," she said.

"It is reprehensible that the BJP leaders, who are completely unemployed after the Congress came to power in the state, are acting in such a way that their main objective is to create a riot by taking up false ideas. When the Udupi incident occurred, minister and MP Shobha Karandlaje, who rushed to Udupi from Delhi just to hold a press conference, has remained silent as if she has no information about the Vittal or Mulki incident," she added.

"BJP's MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and all other MLAs from Udupi and Mangaluru remain silent about the incident. They eagerly rise up to any opportunity to target a specific religion to meet their vested interest. While the state government is committed to give appropriate punishment to the accused arrested in the incident, let the BJP MLAs at least show the courtesy of raising their voices against the incident," Veronica stated in a press release.
