Mangaluru: Elections for 17 villages of Ullal taluk from Aug 8

Mangaluru, Aug 8: The elections for the posts of president and vice president for the 17 villages of Ullal taluk will be held from August 8. New presidents and vice presidents will assume office before August 17. The deputy commissioner has named six election officers for 17 villages.

The elections will be held for the president and vice president post of Konaje village on August 8. The BJP, which lost the opportunity of president position last time due to reservation, is going to get the posts this time with clear majority.

In Munnooru village, discussion is being held between Congress and CPIM to share president and vice president posts. In Pavoor, there is possibility that the SDPI will rule with support of independent candidates.

The Congress has clear majority in all the other gram panchayats including Talapady, Sajipa Padu, Chelur and Konaje.

The number of aspirants is increasing in the gram panchayats were there is clear majority for any political party. The number of aspirants is more where there is reservation for general and backward communities. Internal election will be held within the party and candidate will be chosen.

Ravi Naik Boliyar, deputy director of youth and sport services will be the election officer for Amblamogaru, Munnooru and Belma gram panchayat elections.

Gopal, Deputy director Mangaluru taluk land records, will be the election officer for Harekala and Pavoor villages.

Dilip Kumar, deputy director of fisheries department, will be the election officer for Pajeeru, Kurnadu and Konaje villages.

Swami Kotreshi, assistant executive engineer of quality control department of PWD will be the election officer for Manjanadi, Balepuni and Naringana villages.

Jinendra Kotian of minority welfare department will be the election officer for Ira Sajipapadu and Sajipanadu villages.

Shwetha, infant development project officer will be the election officer for Keenya and Talapady villages.
