Bantwal: Deva Matha Youth Movement Mogarnad unit celebrates 77th Independence Day

Bantwal, Aug 15: The Deva Matha Youth Movement (ICYM) Mogarnad unit celebrated 77th Independence day and feast of Assumption at Mother of God Church, Mogarnad on August 15 starting with Holy Eucharistic celebration.

Fr Anil Canute D'Mello, parish priest, Santosh D'Souza, vice president of Parish Pastoral Council, Wilfred Lobo, secretary of Parish Pastoral Council, Mahesh Shetty, physical education teacher of Deva Matha English Medium School, Amtoor, DMYM president Avit Premson Lobo and secretary Melvita Christal Pereira were the dignitaries for the flag hoisting programme.

Prashanth Lewis, animator of DMYM welcomed the gathering. A patriotic song was rendered by the members of DMYM in view of the 77th Independence Day celebration.

Parish priest Fr Anil Canute D'Mello hoisted the flag. National Anthem was sung after the flag hoisting ceremony.

Fr Anil Canute D'Mello addressed the gathering and spoke about the awakening the patriotic spirit and indulging in activities that bring pride to the nation. He emphasised on being responsible citizens and deliver the duties of a good citizen.

Avit Premson Lobo, president of DMYM read out the patriotic slogans on the auspicious occasion.

Josphine, member of DMYM proposed a vote of thanks. Prashant Lewis compered the programme.

Sweets were distributed after the flag hoisting ceremony.
