Bantwal, Aug 16: “A sum of Rs 26.18 crores has been released under the Amrith Bharath project to develop B C Road railway station. The work will begin soon,” said BJP state president and Mangaluru MP Nalin Kumar Kateel.
He was speaking to reporters after visiting and inspecting the railway station on Wednesday, August 16.
“Funds have been approved to develop three railway stations. Out of them the groundbreaking ceremony for Mangaluru railway station was already held. There is demand for Vande Bharath train. I have requested the railways minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to extend the train which terminates at Puttur till Subrahmanya.”
“Rajesh Naik after becoming the MLA had requested for assistance from the Centre for amenities at Bantwal. Therefore, funds have been provided by the Centre to tackle all the problems on a priority basis,” he said.
“The railway station will be provided with a roof for use during the rainy season, two well-equipped platforms, building, wi-fi, parking, park, road, toilets and a canteen. The front portion of the building is being cleaned up after laying granite slabs. There will be lifts to go from one platform to the other besides other facilities,” he said.
“There will be an air conditioned waiting room for travellers to stay,” said department deputy chief engineer Rama Subbaiah Reddy.
Four lane NH work from B C Road to Addahole has picked up pace'
“Two agencies have taken up work on the NH from Addahole till Mani which has picked up pace,” said MP Nalin Kumar Kateel.
He was speaking to reporters after receiving grievances from the public about highway issues on B C Road.
“As people are troubled during the works, grievances are being received along with MLA Rajesh Naik. I have asked NH officers to finish the work swiftly,” he said.
“The officer in his clarifications said that water from tankers is being sprinkled to solve dust issues. The tar will be laid when the amount of rain decreases,” said the official.
MP Nalin asked the contractor to take up suitable measures to solve the problems. The residents of Kalladka said that they were troubled by dust in the sunshine and sludge during the rainy season. They said that they do not want water from the tanker for the road as the driver sleeps in the tanker.
“The contractor’s vehicles are speeding and causing accidents. There should be a break for overspeeding. Construct a footpath for the people at Kalladka,” requested the residents.
