Udupi, Sep 26: The annual general body meeting of South Kanara Photographers’ Association (SKPA) was held at Sheshayana auditorium of Hotel Kidiyoor, on Sunday September 25.
 
State and district-in-charge minister Dr V S Acharya inaugurated the meeting on Sunday morning.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that the state has 11 academies and the proposal to launch Karnataka Photo Academy will be taken up in the legislative assembly shortly.
 
“Photography is a creative art and subject to changing times.  It’s essential in the IT era for record keeping,” emphasized Dr Acharya.
 
“Undivided Dakshina Kannada district has 2,600 professional photographers and an equal number of amateurs,” he added.  He assured them that the state would urge the nationalized banks to advance loans at subsidized rates of interest to SKPA members to buy latest cameras.
 
MLA Raghupati Bhat, SKPA central committee president Shivaram Kadaba, legal advisor Jagdish Shenava, advisory committee president Vittal Chowta, state Photographers’ Association president B Sasidar, vice-president Ashok Kumar Shetty, SKPA chief secretary Jagdish Jain, vice-presidents Vasudev Rao Udupi and Harish Rao Bantwal, treasurer B Damodar, and presidents of SKPA 12 zones were present on the occasion.
