In spite of all of the internal turmoil in Bahrain, it is truly a gratifying feeling that Bahrain is still a "cradle" of civilization in the Gulf region that encourages staging the Eighth World Kannada Cultural Convention. Its a pride that the host country has always supported India in all our cultural, social and educational activities so that people can continue to enjoy the God-given freedom wherever we are and whoever we are.

That has been the gift that Bahrain always possessed for the expatriate population. We wish we had seen any local Bahraini dignitaries in the audience, but having noticed many empty seats perhaps those were the seats reserved for the Bahrainis to come and join the Kannada Convention.
