Porsche crash: Two Pune doctors arrested for 'tinkering' with minor's blood reports

Pune (Maharashtra), May 27 (IANS): The Pune Police on Monday arrested two senior doctors of a government hospital for allegedly ‘tampering’ with the blood report of the minor accused who was involved in the drink-and-drive Porsche car crash which killed two techies.

They are Dr. Ajay Taware, head of the forensics team and Dr. Shrihari Halnor of the Blood Bank at the government-run Sassoon Hospital who were taken into custody after a swoop on their homes by the Yerawada Police Station.

The duo is suspected of allegedly manipulating the blood samples of the 17-year-old boy and submitting a misleading blood test report that could have repercussions on the prosecution case and the direction of the investigations.

However, Pune Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar said last week that the police had taken a second blood test report which was sent to a private hospital, and the investigators plan to carry out a DNA test to match them, as the blood sample reports had raised doubts.

The blood report of the accused minor boy, the son of a prominent realtor Vishal S. Agarwal, had sparked a huge row as it purportedly gave him a clean chit and enabled him to get bail within 15 hours of the fatal May 19 crash in Kalyani Nagar area that killed IT engineers Ashwini Koshta and her friend Aneesh Awadhiya, both 24 and hailing from Madhya Pradesh.

The boy is currently lodged in a Juvenile Correctional Home in Pune, his father is in judicial custody while his grandfather Surendra Kumar Agarwal is in police custody in the same case that has sparked a nationwide furore.

Besides the two government hospital medicos, the Pune Police on May 24 had suspended two cops -- PI Rahul Jagdale and API Vishwanath Todkari -- for alleged dereliction of duty and other lapses pertaining to the accident, as public anger continued to simmer.

I hope Pune police commissioner is honest and trustworthy person, who took the case and investigated. Please sir I request you, do not allow that boy and father come out on bail. Money power is not important here, here your transparency and accountability is much more important. These people of money power shows their proudness on poor people, that they can do anything with money. We lost 2 young lives because of negligence of rich father and rich boy, I request you sir please show these rich people, how rich is our law and order. I hope here in this case no political pressure or corruption will be intervene. That two doctors please help them to sell vada pav in the streets of Daravito remember what happened because of their dishonesty. Shame on that doctors who eat shit of rich people and survive. Shame on these doctors families and their children. These kind of doctors are burden on society. Because of fame and name they do crime every single day to earn money and enjoying life. Every corner of Pune should publish their identity to known criminals. They must blacklisted from society and their families. Next time everyone will remember before taking bribes. If not today then never will happen again. We the youths should in front to get justice until criminals get punishment. I pray for justice.

True this is very much required. There is a lot of corruption in the two above mentioned departments. Police did a wise thing in sending the blood sample to another hospital. Taking blood samples, postmortem proceedings , examination of medicolegal cases etc.should be compulsarily videorecorded.

Even S*jinya case in B*angady, the forerensic team was responsible for finishing off the crucial evidence ....BTW; I think there are many corrupt medical professionals who resort to such pay and destroy evidence jugglery; since this particular case made a lot of noise, the jugglery was investigated; if the victims were from the poorer section, the case would have been closed by now; what say Desai Sir?
