Mangaluru, May 29: Nitte University will launch an MBA programme in innovation, entrepreneurship and venture development.

Addressing the media on Wednesday, May 29 at Press Club Mangaluru, Dr A P Achar said, "This course is made in order to tackle the problems of lack of education and information among entrepreneurship. In this we are also focusing on start-ups and how to boost family business. This course will be available for just 30 students."

Dr Gopal Mugeraya said, "We want the students to be job creators rather than job seekers. Mangaluru is a vibrant city known for its education. This is an innovative programme and only 15 institutions have such programmes across the country. This is an ambitious course and we wanted to do something out of the box. Mangaluru has a history of multiple profit making ventures and our university has always been serving the needs of society and industry. It took us 2 years to develop the curriculum and this programme will have less classes and there will be more field studies and through this, the students will get practical knowledge. Most of their time will be spent in the incubation center along with field experts. There is no such programme in the third part of the state. This will be of a great value for those students who go to different states to learn this particular course."

Regarding fee structure of the course, Dr Mugeraya said, "This is a 2-year course. The fee for one year would be Rs 2,90,000 and an additional Rs 10,000 as exam fees. We will also provide students with funds for their business in future. This course is not for job seekers, but for job creators."
